Last season’s PSAL city champ runner ups have found their stride late in the season. Friday night, knocking off PSAL rival Manhattan center and Saturday making light work off Cardinal Spellman. JFK is following the lead of junior shooting Guard Jovalevern McFarland finished with 22 points (6 of 11 from the 3 point line and 2 for 2 from the free throw line). Junior Leshauna Phinazee finished with 10 points, 2 assists and 2 steal. For the first half JFk shot 51% from the field and 50% from the 3 point line 6 of 12.
Cardinal Spellman was led by Boston University bound Troi Melton (23 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists) and Leshauna Phinazee (10 points, 6 rebounds and 2 Blocks).
Bishop Loughlin 43 vs. Truman HS 36
Bishop Loughlin feature a balance attack with juniors Chelsea Gibson (10 points ), Jasmine Alston (7 Points) and Aliyah Alston (10 points). Truman was lead by Krystal Pearson who went 2 for 3 from the 3 point line she finished with (16 points, rebounds and 2 steals).
Francis Lewis HS 59 Vs. Mt. Vernon HS 51
Francis Lewis was led by their junior trio of Tyese Purvis 2of 4 from the 3 point line, 5 of 5 from the free-throw line (19 point, & rebounds, 3 assist, 1 steal and 1 block), Jasmine Davis ( 16 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 blocks) and Jazmine Hamlet (12 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assist and 4 Steals). Mt Vernon was led by senior Carece Moore (16 points), Donisha Watson (12 points and 9 rebounds).
Nazareth Regional HS 50 vs. MD Academy Tech & Sciences HS 32
Nazareth Lady Kingsmen was led by balance attack that saw a lot of freshman seeing significant minutes. Freshman Bianca Cuevas lead the way (9 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals), why freshman’s Shiclasia Brown and Arelis Cora both finished with 5 points for the Lady Kingsmen. Maryland Academy Tech & Sciences was lead by Asha Bryant (8 points, 4 Rebounds and 4 steals).
