[Tillary Park – Brooklyn, NY, July 28, 2023] - The stage is set, the anticipation is palpable, and the excitement is soaring as we announce the annual Gametime Summer Tournament High School Division, a showcase of talent, dedication, and sportsmanship among the city's rising basketball stars. With the prestigious tournament slated to tip-off on Monday, July 31st and culminate with the thrilling finals on Sunday, August 13th, basketball enthusiasts citywide are eagerly gearing up for an unforgettable display of skill and camaraderie among some of the best high schools in the city.
Organized by Funsport Basketball, this year's tournament promises to be the biggest and most competitive event yet, bringing together 16 high school teams from across all five boroughs. The teams have been carefully selected through rigorous regional competitions, ensuring that only the best of the best will have the chance to compete for the coveted championship rings.
"This summer I am thrilled to have the PSAL city champions over the past 5yrs in Eagle Academy II, South Shore, and Thomas Jefferson competing" said Rickey Rivers, President of Funsport Basketball. "This tournament is not just about basketball; it's about fostering teamwork, pursuing college scholarships, and the preparation of winning a state championship next year."
The tournament will be held at Tillary Park (95 Tillary Street, Brooklyn, NY) on weekdays starting at 3:30pm to 9:30pm. Each game will be a battle with teams in pool play and only 2 of the 4 teams in each pool making it to the playoffs.
The tournament's semifinals and finals will be broadcasted live on our social media platforms. These platforms will be abuzz with live updates, highlights, and behind-the-scenes glimpses, ensuring that the excitement reaches every corner of the city and beyond.
As the tournament approaches, all of New York City is encouraged to come together to celebrate the spirit of sportsmanship and cheer on these young athletes as they showcase their talents on the hardwood.
