The Hofstra Team Camp for City schools got underway on Friday evening show us a glimpse into the upcoming high school season

St. Raymond vs Jefferson

The Ravens jumped out in front to a 21-6 halftime lead as the Orange adjusted to life without prep school bound Joel Wright and Kyle Francis. In the leadership position for Jefferson was junior guard David Coley who seemed to propel the Jefferson offense early.

Playing well for St. Rays was 6-foot-5 Jose Rodriguez and Harold McBride, Jr. Who both attacked the basket well. Joey Dela Rosa also ran the floor well and was an effective defensive stopper. Jefferson managed to comeback to within 4 down the stretch but the Ravens pulled out the victory 45-36.

Rodrigues was 6-10 with 17 points. Daniel Dingle led St. Rays with 6 rebounds for Rays.

Forest Hills vs Bishop Loughlin

The Rangers of Forest Hills returned with their promising 6-foot-5 forward Maurice Harkless. Bishop Loughlin, for the moment have retained the services of both Jayvaughn Pinkston and Brandon Frazier. Now under the leadership of head coach Ed Gonzalez, Loughin maintained a 17-10 first half lead over Forest Hills.

Frazier played a solid game showing inside outside versatility as well as an acute passing game. Harkless was oftentimes matched up aginst the bigger and more aggressive Pinkston but never really took advantage of his quickness.

With 58 seconds the Rangers pulled to within 4 points as their fullcourt press frustrated the Lion offense. Frazier would increase the cushion at the freethrow line as the Lions would go on to win 38-30. Frazier scored 12 points

Boys & Girls vs Gonzaga

The Kangaroos found themselves in a battle against a scrappy Gonzaga team from Washington. Antoine Slaughter played well offensively but solid play from both the perimeter as well as in the paint would give Gonzaga a 30-24 halftime lead.

The Gonzaga team broke the Kangaroos press often and stretched their lead to 17 points late in the second half. 57-42. 6-1 Rising senior Cederick Lindsay, who plays with with D.C. Assault, led with 24 points.

Cardozo vs Wings Academy

The Judges are getting bigger and bigger as they've added 6-foot-5 freshman Sven Hunt and 6-foot-6 sophomore Victor Reid along with Ryan Rhomes and Dwayne Brunson.

Wings Academy is a team of fresh faces such as Ian Vasquez as upperclassmen Dashawn Wiggans and Krystian Forrest did not play. Down 25-19 at the half. Wings would come on strong down the stretch to pull to within 1 point but would lose 42-41 behind the leadership of rising senior Reynaldo Walters.
