It would be a match-up with playoff implications as the defending champion Exodus NYC played against the rising upstarts, the Philly Bells on Sunday in the second round of the Nike/Rose Classic. After defeating the Exodus Brooklyn team the day before, the Bells would run into a brick wall, losing to the senior Exodus squad, 82-61

The D-1 caliber Exodus NYC team immediately established their dominance over the Philadelphia squad after the Bells tied them at 13 apiece in the first quarter. The highly recruited Bria Hartley (25 points) put on a shooting clinic, showing the versitily of her game.

Down 32-17 at the half, the Bells made a run at Exodus NYC as the tandem of 6-foot-1 freshman Briana Butler (14 points) and Marie Boisvert (20 points) knocked down perimeter shots. Hard work showed early dividends as what was once almost a 20 point Exodus lead had diminished to 12 to start the fourth quarter.

The Bells attempted to make a final run but with 4:53 left in the game, an 11 point deficit ballooned to 19 points in the blink of an eye as Jelleah Sidney (11 points) led an Exodus NYC press that resulted in multiple and successive turnovers. Even the Exodus NYC center Brittany Webb (8 points) would nail a step back jumper from the arc as the team's confidence was at a premium.

Ask if he felt a sense of revenge after losing to the Bells on Saturday with his Exodus Brooklyn team, Coach Apache Pascale said, No. I knew yesterday's team was gonna get beat up on. They were not as experienced. I knew this team (Exodus NYC) would match up better," says Coach Pascal.

Up by 25 points with 2:37 left, the Exodus team with Jennifer O'Neill (12 points) running the point, would advance out the 2nd round in their quest for yet another chip.
