Led by McDonald All-American China Crosby (4 points and 5 assists), the Golden Girls, a team of seniors, played an inspired game against New Heights. After going toe-to-toe early, the veteran Golden Girls excelled, pulling away for a 61-44 win.
The Golden Girls maintained a slim lead throughout the first half but increased it to 27-19 at the half as St. John's-bound Shannika Smith (23 points) stepped up late.
To start the third, the Golden Girls pressed on the accelerator as Smith went hard to the hole. By the end of the third, New Heights would be down by 15 points.
Seton Hall commit Terry Green (11 points) contributed to the Golden Girls success scoring from the perimeter as did Jennifer Blanding (8 points)
Even with Kentucky-bound Porsha Postell (16 points), the New Heights team would fall to the more experienced Gorden Girls team.
