Still without the services of three of their starters on Tuesday, the Boys & Girls Kangaroos (2-0) were one of many PSAL teams whose regular season got underway. While the Canarsie Chiefs (0-2) attempted to exploit perceived advantages against Boys & Girls, the reality would still be a 79-47 drubbing.

Knotted at 9 points late in the first, the Kangaroos pulled ahead 14-9 going into the second quarter. Even without the services of Mike Taylor, Antoine Slaughter and Leroy Fludd, Boys & Girls head coach Ruth Lovelace utilized an effective uptempo pace with pressure 'D.' Carnarsie countered with a 2-1-2 zone. With 5:12 left in the second half, a jumper by Devante Harvey (12 points) pulled the Chiefs to within a point of the #3 ranked Kangaroos. Good individual play by Leroy Isler (30 points) and Jeff Neverson (22 points) kept Boys & Girls out in front 32-22 at the half.

The Chiefs had the right idea. Deny the ball to Isler with double teams and help defense. The Roos however had a better idea, countering with good high/low ball movement and buckets by Neverson and Brandon Williams (19 points) with Isler scoring primarily from offensive rebound putbacks. As a result, midway through the third, 10-2 run put the Kangaroos up by 16 points. Canarsie did get perimeter point production from Kyle Loadholt (17 points) and kevin Scott (15 points) but it would not be equal the overall output of "The High."

The Kangaroos lead increased to 20 points to start the fourth quarter and fouls began to mount for the Chiefs, compounding their problems. With 5 minutes remaining, a full court press by Canarsie decreased their deficit to 11 points but that would be as close as they would get as Boys & Girls got their second wind and blew out the Chiefs down the stretch.
