There was never any doubt in my mind as to whether there would be a NBA or college season this year. There's no way, they were going to leave Television revenue on the table. That's billions of dollars with a "B". Not to mention sneaker, apparel sponsors etc. If they didn't play they wouldn't get paid.

But what about high school sports?

From the high school sports view point, playing indoor close contact sports is not an asset but a liability financially and possibly legally. There's no television revenue only bills. While high school sports does afford many with scholarship opportunities that too, doesn't generate revenue for high schools, only expenses. And what happens if a student-athlete contracts COVID-19 during a high school sporting event or practice.

Maybe I'm overlooking something but what would be the incentive(s) for high schools to open their gyms and support high school sports as opposed to just cancelling the season?
